How To Use Split View On Your Mac
In this quick tech how-to video, I’m going to show you how to use split view on your Apple computer.
This first way is for Mac OS Catalina or higher and allows you to fill your screen with 2 apps at once, without having to manually move and resize windows.
To do this, start with the first app you want to split-screen with. Press and hold the green full-screen button on the upper-left of the window until a popup menu appears.
On the menu, choose Tile Window to Left of Screen or Right of Screen. The window will then fill that side of the screen.
Once that clicks into place, select the next window you want to be side by side with.
If you are using an older version of macOS, the directions are almost the same, but instead of selecting Tile to Left or Right, the window will shrink, and you just drag to the left or right.
A quick note, if you are unable to enter split view, you may have to make an adjustment inside of your preferences.
Head to System Preferences, and then Mission Control.
In here make sure that Displays Have Separate Spaces is selected.
To exit split view, press and hold the green full-screen button again and select exit full-screen.
The other window you had open will also still be in full-screen, so you may have to swipe over or select it manually and exit full-screen on that too.
And that’s how you use split view on an Apple Mac computer.
