How to use Google KEEP for Beginners-Useful note-taking app
Hey everyone in this video, I wanted to show you how to use Google. Keep Google Keep is a simple note-taking app by Google. There's a couple of competitions that I liked better. For example, Evernote is software that I use a lot more often than Google keeps, and Microsoft one note is another competitor.
But we'll focus on Google. Keep for this video. I do have other videos on Evernote, for example, on this channel. If you want to check those out. So first, let me show you how to get to Google. Keep I'll start from scratch here. So let's start from google.com here on google.com. The first thing is we want to sign in, so we need to have an account to get Google.
Keep I'm assuming you have a Gmail or a calendar Google calendar account already. So, or a YouTube account with any of those accounts, you could go ahead and sign in to your Google account. I'm going to go ahead and sign it and once you're signed in here, you could click these squares here and if you click on more, you'll see Google keeps.
So you could go ahead and get to it that way or another way to do it is to go to your URL, keep.google.com. That will take you here as well and this is what it looks like if you've never used it. Now, I have it right here on new accounts that I've never used before. And I wanted to show you a couple of months.
Favorite things here and then at the end of it, I'll show you a mobile app and what it looks like on there real fast. So on Google, keep creating a note. Is that simple here, you just simply take a note and you can put a title on a note? So I'm going to write this as my first note. You got to type the main content.
Second content, third content, and then I could give it a title and you want to use things that you are going to be able to search for it because just like Google, this is a search platform. So you're not going to be able to put these in different notebooks and things that you could do in Evernote, but you'll have this awesome search, this search bar here.
So you could use this search bar to search your notes. So let me show you what's possible in the notes here, there is a reminder tab, so you could click that and it will give you a reminder. So if you set a to-do list here, for example, you could set a reminder for yourself and that reminder was show up over here, under notes.
So on Google keep right hereunder notes. You'll have a reminder. If you do that, you could next add a collaborator. So by clicking that you could add someone else and share this document with them. This is great. If you have a to-do list, for example, next to it, you could color-code your notes. So if you make it red, for example, it's going to look like that in the background.
I'm going to keep it on the plain white. You could add images, you could archive it, and that will show up over here. So if you're done with a note, you should archive it. So it'll show up here on the side and then you have more options. Let me go ahead and click that and under the note, you could do add labels.
You could do a drawing, make a copy and my favorite thing is you could show a checkbox. So if I select that, it turns everything into a checkbox that you could check on and off right here. So that's really handy and you could always hide that and bring it back to a regular note. So this is one of my favorite things is turning it into a note here.
I'm going to go ahead and close that. So now it's created my first note. If I wanted to create another note. I could go ahead and call this my second note, taking second note, and I'll go ahead and make this one a different color. I'll make it blue and I'm going to close it and there you go. So this is how you make notes and you could populate your whole app right here by simply doing that and over here. On top next to taking notes, you have a new list, so you can make a checklist. You could take notes by drawing, or you could just take notes with an image. Let me just choose this image for example here and see what that looks like. So again, you would upload an image. You could give it a title and you could name it something and you could close it and it will add it here as an image. So that's a couple of different ways you could take notes on Google. Keep, let me show you up here under settings up here, you have a couple of options like refresh list view with changes to a list view, and next to it, a settings option.
There is the important thing here. I want to show you. If you go to settings and go to the app download, it's going to take you to this page where he's going to let you have the Android app or iPhone, an iPad app here. But the Chrome extension is what I like the most. Let me go ahead and click that and I'm going to go ahead and add the Chrome extension to my note.
Now that I've added the Chrome extension, let me go back here and this is the Chrome extension here. You see that on top. So let me go to a page that I want to save. Let's say I want to save this Evernote page. I'm going to click this and he's gonna, let me take a note and save this page. So another cool note-taking app.
Ever notes. So if I wanted to save this note, as you could see, because everything is in the cloud is actually saving it right now. So if I go back to Google keeps is saved there, just like that he saved the URL is saved my notes about it by title and just like all the other times that I could color code something, I could go ahead and change the color, add images, add collaborators, all this stuff in the note here.
So that's true with all the notes, the same way you created it. You could do all those things later, like changing color and, set again as a reminder. So that's really all there is to Google. Keep that's basically a simple overview of what you could do is really a basic and simple note-taking app and my favorite thing about it is that ability to.
Just click this bookmark basically and creating these notes, it works a lot better, better than bookmarks in my opinion and you could add a label and take a note here in that option. Yeah. So let's jump into the mobile device. I just wanted to show you how it looks on the mobile device. It's pretty much the same as the desktop version.
That's one of the good benefits of using Google products, but I want it to show you for a second, what it looks like there. So I don't have Google notes just yet. So let's go to the app store on this device here and go ahead and look for Google keep and this is the app right here for iOS to Android is the same process.
So look for Google play and look for Google. Keep there I'm going to go ahead and download it here. We do have to log in with the same icon I created. So I'm going to go ahead and log in here. And once I log in, I'm going to see the exact same notes that I saw on my desktop. So either if you create the notes here on your desktop, it's going to cross populate there because it's all made in the cloud.
So it's gonna automatically. Sync up between devices and there's no limit in these notes here. So on like Evernote, where there's a limit on how much you could take on the free version, this is always free and he lets you sync up as many notes as you want. So again, for taking notes here on the bottom, go ahead and tap, take notes.
This is going to be the third note and I'm going to press return here and just like that is taken the third notes here. So same thing with the notes. Every time you click a note, you could go ahead and press this. That's on the bottom here and change the color. For example, add collaborators, delete on so on, but next to it, there's a plus sign.
If I press that, I could take pictures, choose an image from my phone. Do a drawing and there's a recording option. So on your mobile device, you will have a recording option that will allow you to record everything that you say right here, and then when you're done recording it, you could just pause it there and it's going to take the notes, just like this, based on your verbal cues. This is made for taking small notes. Like if you forgot to do something or you want to set a reminder for yourself, or just like that, that's been added to my third note. And it's going to automatically show up on my desktop. I don't have to do anything to sync it up and this is how you would take notes here and then when it comes to searching for notes, this is how you would get to your notes. Let's say I want it to search forever note that I took a note on. I'm going to find it just like that when I searched for it again, this is a search by Google. So it's really great.
Just like the search engine is, so that's one of my favorite features. So between the search option here on your notes and the ability to bookmark yeah and leave notes on different websites, articles, and so on that you find, I think I'm going to make Google keep as part of my everyday process. I hope you found this video useful.
