How to Backup and Restore Whatsapp Messages (Android and iOS)
Hey everyone. In today's WhatsApp video, I want to show you how to back up and how to restore WhatsApp messages on Android and iOS devices. So I'll have the iPhone on the right side and the Android phone on the left side. So you can follow along depending on what device you have. First things first, launched WhatsApp and go to settings on iPhone.
It's just on the corner here on the bottom. And our Android, you press the three dots on top and go into settings. Now, on this page is the same. You want to go to the chats window right here and on the chats window, you want to go to chat back up, click that, and on this page. If you haven't set this up before you won't have the last backup already.
I do because I've already set this up before, but what you want to do is you want to turn on auto backup. So click auto backup, and you could set up your schedule from daily, weekly, and monthly. I have a set to weekly, so I don't take up too much space here, but you could do any one of these here and on Android.
You have one more step. You have to choose a Google account here. To back up to and follow along with giving it access. So go ahead and do those few steps on Android, on iPhone. You don't have to do that. Let me go back and then underneath that, it says include videos. Now, if you want to include videos in your backup, it is going to increase the file size, but you could go ahead and select that if you want to do that here and it's going to show me on top that 43 megabytes of videos are going to be uploaded. If I turn that off, that's not the case. Significantly reduces my backup size. Anytime I could press back up now to create a backup and depending on the size, it may take a few minutes to longer. In my case, it only took a few seconds because I don't have a lot on this WhatsApp account.
Now, let me go ahead and delete WhatsApp to show you how to restore this. I'll go ahead and download it again. Now, that I deleted it on my phone. Now, I'm on a new WhatsApp here, so I'll press agree and continue I'll log in with my phone number and then I should come to this page where he says restore chat history.
So I could go ahead and press that on Android. You're going to get a couple more permissions here, so press continues and gives it a couple of more access points once you re-install WhatsApp, and then when you get to the restore page and press restore here on the bottom and it's gonna restore it from the backup that I just set up right now and as soon as it's done, I'll have all my messages back and all my videos, if I had the video option selected and just like that, all my media is restored on my WhatsApp account. I hope you found this useful. Please give it a thumbs up and subscribe for easy-to-follow tech and social media videos and I'll see you next time.
